WOYWW #186--lots of pics!

After a very long hiatus, I'm back. although I actually did this project back around WOYWW #160!  Between being busy and just flat-out forgetting to post (whoops), it's now WOYWW #186!

Anyhoo, this is a now discontinued IKEA product that I loved, called a Fira. It's a little wooden dresser sort of thing that came in different configurations and you finished it any way you wanted. This is my version, used on my desk to store pencils, pens, binder clips, etc.

Happy Boxing Day!!

Photos after this break.

The finished product, on my desk.

WOW what an awesome treasure! Bummer that it is discontinued, I'd love to have one. Love the way you decorated it.
Happy WOYWW

Thanks, y'all. And if I get bored with it, I can always move the drawers around!

Beautiful what you've done with the drawer set - so frustrating when they discontinue such lovely pieces. I love the Moppes, but yours is so cool with the little handles... Continuing good wishes for the festive season, and happy WOYWW!

Yeah, Alison, it's funny to read Ikeafans forum posts when they were bemoaning the demise of the Moppes, and it was replaced with the "inferior" Fira. Now you can't get either one. I've been thinking of getting some nice 1/4" birch plywood and making my own, to my size specifications and with solid ends (I had an interesting time covering those finger-pull holes in the front with pattern paper).

Well, you might have been away but evidently you've been very busy! I love what you did to the box, it's stunning! Waving hi from the rainy, but wishing it was snowing hills of North Carolina for the last WOYWW of 2012!!

You spent a lot of time spiffing up and personalizing your beautiful little box of drawers, Racu! I'm a sucker for any little table or dresser with lots of little drawers. It's fun to think that 200 years from now someone will find this treasure in an antique store and still go, "Awww!"

Best wishes to you for a wonderful new year!! Darnell #53

Wow. Double wow. The first wow is for the chest of drawers. Just stunning. The second wow is for all the pictures you took as you did it. How on earth did you remember to keep stopping and taking them?

Here's to an amazing new year when it comes,

Rachel's asked the same as me, once I was into it, I would have forgotten to take pictures too! It turned out stunning, really love your choice of colours and patterns.

Julia--I had my phone there on the table with me and as I "finished" an element, I snapped a pic. I really meant to write a sort of tutorial to go with it, but just haven't had the time.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Great storage drawers you sure have been busy. I have a set like that stored away somewhere to be decorated, I must dig it out one day.
